A South African person identification number is a 13-digit number containing only numeric characters, and no whitespace, punctuation, or alphanumeric characters. It is defined as follows:
Home affairs' online id check / validation service is offline, the search facility that confirmed marital status has also be removed.
We have updated our online validation algorithm to successfully check old and new RSA ID numbers. A bulk validation / verification service is available on request.
The current SA ID Number algorithm was created by uncle Pieter den Boer (ex Q-Data, Brainware) while working at IBM in the 1980's.
